Crew Briefing Video

It is important to know how much experience your crew has before you embark on any sailing adventure. Can they handle the worst-case scenarios? As a captain and good leader, you need to give a proper safety briefing each and every time prior to the boat leaving the dock. You also need to create an environment in which your crew and guests feel comfortable asking rudimentary questions.

For our boat, we created a video walkaround introduction to the boat covering safety items and also just general items on how we want our boat looked after. Feel free to duplicate something like this. Keep it short and simple and fast. We have new guests watching this video on my phone while we are doing some essential getting the boat ready to leave stuff. By the time they have watched it – the boat is ready.

In Chapter 11, Safety and Emergencies, we provide an excellent crew briefing checklist and how to prepare your crew.
