Sea Anchor

Finally, there is something called a “sea anchor.” These can be a variety of devices used to slow down a vessel caught in high winds and turbulent seas. These include commercially available chutes or small cones arranged on a long line or even a jury-rigged chain looped behind the boat. All are used to create drag to slow the vessel.
