April 2027 Brazil Sailing Flotilla

Where the Rainforest Meets the Sea

Imagine mornings under sail with forest-covered mountains rising above the water, swim stops in beautiful bays, then heading ashore for fresh seafood at a nearby beach restaurant. Then, after settling into your overnight spot, spending the evenings exploring charming villages, sipping caipirinhas, and discovering Brazilian flavors with new friends.

Join NauticEd and Wind Charter for a week exploring Brazil’s Costa Verde, with Paraty as our starting point and the islands and bays around Ilha Grande as our proposed route. We’re planning a mix of tropical anchorages, village visits, and select marina stays where there’s something worth stepping ashore for.

Sailing brings us together, but the experiences make the memories: snorkeling, local culture, leisurely meals, optional adventures, and evenings with your flotilla friends. Join the activities that appeal to you – or simply enjoy the view.

TRIP SPECIFIC FAQs

✈️ How do I get there?

Wind Charter recommends flying into São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) and traveling by road to Paraty – drive yourself or use a trusted driver from Wind Charter. Wind estimates approximately 3½ hours.

Rio de Janeiro–Galeão (GIG) is another option, particularly if you’d like to visit Rio before or after the flotilla. Allow approximately 4–5 hours for the road transfer to Paraty.

We recommend arriving in Paraty at least one day before boarding.

⚓ Where and when do we board?

Embarkation is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, at Wind Charter’s base at Marina Farol de Paraty. After boat handovers and briefings, we plan a short first sail (if timing and conditions permit), followed by a welcome dinner ashore.

Disembarkation is Saturday, May 1. Final arrival, transfer, and checkout details will be provided before the trip.

How much sailing will we do?

Most days follow a simple rhythm: breakfast, morning sail, a scenic lunch and swim stop, then an afternoon sail to our overnight destination.

The working route allows roughly 100–120 nautical miles over the week, with some shorter days and some longer passages. Final distances will depend on the confirmed stops and conditions.

Will we stay in marinas or anchor?

We’re planning no more than three marina nights, including the final night at Wind Charter’s base. Other nights will be in suitable anchorages or on available, approved moorings.

Marina stops will be chosen for worthwhile dining and shore experiences. At anchor, guests can reach shore by dinghy or an arranged local transfer where available.

What about meals?

Breakfasts will generally be aboard. Lunches can be aboard or at optional beach bars and restaurants, with Dadico and Lagoa Verde’s floating restaurants among our planned trip highlights.

We aim for dinner ashore on most evenings, including two organized group dinners. On other nights, guests can choose their own restaurants. Final meal arrangements and inclusions will be specified with your booking.

What optional activities are planned?

Snorkeling, scuba diving, gentle kayaking, guided fishing, short nature walks, a Caiçara cultural experience, Brazilian cooking, and caipirinha-making are among the experiences available in this region. A beach barbecue and live music are also planned activities we are exploring.

Activities to be finalized/confirmed with local providers. Mainland excursions – including Trindade, waterfall and 4×4 tours, and horseback riding – may also be offered before or after the charter.

FLOTILLA FAQs

What’s a Flotilla?

A flotilla is a group of yachts exploring a shared route, with a lead boat coordinating the trip. You have your own onboard space and crew, along with opportunities to meet up for lunch stops, activities, dinners, and exploring ashore.

Who is this trip for?

Couples, friends, and travelers who enjoy sailing, beautiful scenery, local food, and good company. Our planned activities favor a relaxed pace, easy walks, and optional outings rather than strenuous hikes.

You don’t need to participate in every activity. Enjoy a guided excursion, explore independently, or relax aboard.

Do I need sailing experience?

If you plan to skipper your own yacht, NauticEd and Wind Charter will review your sailing experience and qualifications. If you prefer to leave the sailing to a professional, ask us about hiring a skipper and the available ways to join.

How big is the Flotilla?

NauticEd flotillas keep to a maximum of 6 boats. However, due to Wind Charter being a boutique company, their fleet will likely sell out quickly to NauticEd plus other private charters so we recommend booking very early.
