Ionians, Greece Sailing Flotilla

– NauticEd Sailing Vacations –
– June 2025 –

JOIN NAUTICED ON A GREECE FLOTILLA SAILING VACATION.  The Ionian Islands on the western side of Greece are some of the most beautiful islands in Greece. Sailing the southern Ionian from a Lefkas home-base makes for an exciting, serene, and varied Greek island adventure.

IONIANS GREECE SAILING FLOTILLA OVERVIEW

Dates:
Saturday, June 21 to Saturday, June 28, 2025.

Where & Why

The Ionian Islands, Greece.  We will start and end the adventure from our home port of Lefkas, Greece.

Some of the many reasons to charter in the Ionians include:  Short sails, perfect weather, hidden bays surrounded by cypress and olives trees, sleepy fishing villages dotted with traditional Greek tavernas, fun on land activities, and an abundance of Greek history.

Who

We welcome all, sailors and non-sailors alike.  There are 3 main ways to join – NauticEd takes care of all the boat rental details:

  • fill one of our chartered boats with you as skipper (friends and family can be crew – aka bareboat)
  • fill one of our chartered boats with a hired skipper (friends and family can join in on as much sailing as desired)
  • rent 1 or 2 cabins on one of our professionally skippered shared boats with a hostess–  (perfect for solos or couples traveling – each cabin sleeps two people on a queen/full size bed)

FLOTILLA COSTS

BY THE CABIN

Reserve one or two of the two available cabins on the flotilla lead boat. Captained by a professionally skippered NauticEd affiliated local Greek English speaking captain Beneteau Oceanis 43ft monohull including an onboard local Greek hostess.

  • Cost – €5500 ea cabin. Price includes breakfast, lunch, charcuterie boards, fuel, moorings, 2 social flotilla dinners at seaside restaurants, and libations.

OR reserve one or more of the three available cabins on a Jeanneau 490 monohull (2023 year). Captained by Nick Koufidis our professional NauticEd American National Standards Instructor and Greek local (speaks perfect English) and including an onboard local Greek hostess.

  • Cost – €5500 ea cabin. Price includes breakfast, lunch, charcuterie boards, fuel, moorings, 2 social flotilla dinners at seaside restaurants, and libations.

Considering the all-inclusive deal above, these prices are a steal!

  • We have a variety of monohulls and catamarans available out of Lefkas Marina.  These can be bareboat, skippered or crewed.
  • PRICE: Costs for the boat rental vary by boat and amenities.  Monohulls start at around €3500; Catamarans start at around €6500

  • Please inquire and let us know your desires and we’ll be happy to provide options that fit your needs.

IONIANS GREECE ITINERARY

This interactive map is a typical sample itinerary we have put together. The route taken during the week will depend on prevailing and current weather.

WHAT IS A FLOTILLA?  WHO WILL LEAD THE FLOTILLA?

This is a casual flotilla without a ‘theme.’ This is NOT an adult-only flotilla, a party yacht week, or a flotilla focusing solely on hiking or wines or yoga.  We’re laid back and run our flotillas that way.  We like to do a variety of activities both on the water and on the land.  Of course, you’re welcome to explore as you see fit.   There is a no ducks-in-a-row mentality; a flotilla offers you independence with peace of mind as well as fun and camaraderie with other flotilla sailors. We cap the flotilla at 4 boats so you have a chance to meet other like-minded people with out a super crowd.

The NauticEd team are experts at charters—we will provide pre-charter advice, set the course and itinerary and include recommendations on things to do and see.  Along with flotilla leader, Mike Soutos, we’ll provide options for moorings (marinas, mooring balls, or perhaps you prefer to anchor under the stars) as well as optional activities along the way.

Local Greek captain and NauticEd affiliate Mike Soutas of Oasis Sailing – Lefkas will lead the flotilla on the lead Beneteau 43 cabin boat.  Mike is a local Greek captain (but speaks perfect English), has sailed the area for years and years, and knows all the best (and hidden) spots.

Social Activities include welcome happy hour (at cost), 2 organized dinners and moorings (pre-paid), and a detailed list of optional excursions on land (history walking tour, massage, wine tasting, cave tour, etc) organized and coordinated by flotilla leader Mike.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Qualifications to Bareboat Charter

Licenses:  To skipper a charter yacht in Greece, you must have an appropriate sailing license.  There are several accepted licenses including the ICC, and the NauticEd SLC.  If you are unsure if you qualify, please ask us and we can assist.  If you have experience but do not have a license, visit www.nauticed.org/SLC or contact NauticEd today.  Without a doubt, you should be competent at Mediterranean Mooring and have significant sailing experience in your resume.

‘Home” Base & Travel Information

We will be embarking and disembarking from Lefkas.

You can fly direct from many places in Europe to Preveza airport (PVK)  which is about a 20-minute taxi ride away from the Lefkas Marina. There are flights direct from Athens via AegeanAir or Sky Express. You can also fly into Athens and take a comfortable bus ride (about 4 hours) through the Greek countryside. The highway is wide and modern.

Many people choose to explore other parts of Greece before or after the sailing vacation.
