From the misty shores of England to the crystalline lagoons of the South Pacific, Daniel’s journey has been defined by a deep-seated love for the sea. After honing his craft navigating the rugged Pacific Northwest, countless explorations of Tahiti, and the technical racing circuits of the West Coast, Daniel now brings his expertise to give you the ultimate sailing destination: Tahiti.
As an EDU-4 American National Standards Qualified NauticEd Instructor and USCG 25-ton Master with over a decade of experience in yacht deliveries and instruction, Daniel is more than just a captain—he is your guide to the “Island of Love.”
While Daniel’s logbook spans the Mediterranean, the Pacific, and the Caribbean, Tahiti is where his heart truly lies. He blends high-level technical mastery with a genuine passion for the magic of the South Pacific. When you step aboard, you aren’t just getting a captain or flotilla leader; you’re getting a mentor and a local guide.
Precision Navigation: Whether threading the needle through the coral reefs of Raiatea or securing the most secluded anchorage in Bora Bora, Daniel’s local expertise ensures your passage is as smooth as the turquoise water.
Beyond the Helm: Daniel is your personal resource for all things sailing. From morning weather briefings and strategic routing to fine-tuning your sail trim for that extra knot of speed, he’s there to elevate your skills and your confidence.
Total Peace of Mind: With a background in professional passage making and yacht instruction, Daniel manages the complex logistics and vessel safety behind the scenes—leaving you free to focus entirely on the horizon and the next island sunset.
Daniel and his wife Klaudia understand that a sailing vacation is about the balance of adventure and serenity. From the moment you step aboard, Daniel’s goal is to help you reach your own sailing milestones—whether that’s taking the wheel for the first time or simply mastering the art of the perfect island sundowner.
The Itinerary
Our route through the Society Islands is designed for beauty and relaxation. While all stops are weather-dependent to ensure your comfort, you can expect a seamless blend of open-water sailing and protected lagoon hopping.
This is one of the possible routes that we may take.
Daniel and Klaudia are returning to their favorite corner of French Polynesia to lead the way. As your guides through these remote atolls and anchorages, they offer the perfect balance of support and freedom.
Whether you want to spend your week exploring the helm under Daniel’s expert eye or simply kicking back with a book as the lush volcanic peaks drift by, the rhythm of the boat is yours to set.
In keeping with one of sailing’s oldest (and most mysterious) traditions, Daniel strictly refuses to see bananas on board. Despite Klaudia’s many creative attempts to sneak them into the galley, he maintains a yellow-fruit-free deck to keep the “bad luck” at bay! But only on his boat!
If you’re looking for the quintessential Tahiti moment, this is it. We anchor in some of the most pristine, electric-blue water on the planet before taking a short dinghy ride to Ari’s Grill. Between the authentic cuisine and a sunset that defies description, it is a true South Pacific masterpiece.
The Coral River in Taha’a is less a place you swim and more a place you drift. A slow, steady current carries you through a natural channel in the lagoon, gliding past gardens of coral that feel deliberately arranged—tables, fingers, and soft fans waving gently in the flow. Fish move calmly around you, unbothered, as if you’ve slipped into their world unnoticed.
It’s peaceful in a way that’s hard to describe until you’re there. Sunlight filters down in shifting patterns, the only sounds are your breath and the faint crackle of reef life, and time seems to slow to match the water’s pace. You don’t rush through the Coral River—you let it take you, and that’s exactly the magic.
Navigating your way to paradise is easier than you might think. Here is everything you need to know about reaching our starting line in Raiatea.
Pre-Cruise Stays in Papeete
If you arrive a day early (recommended!), there are several world-class hotels located just 3 miles from the airport. A quick search on TripAdvisor will show a range of lagoon-front options to help you shake off the jet lag before we set sail.
The Final Leg: Connecting to Raiatea
The flotilla base is located on the island of Raiatea.
Who’s Coming Along?
You’ll be in excellent company! Your flotilla leaders, Daniel and Klaudia, will be available from the lead boat, providing expert guidance and local insight throughout the week.
As for your fellow travelers? Expect a vibrant mix of:
Do I need sailing experience? Absolutely not! This trip is designed for everyone. If you’re joining us for a by-the-cabin stay, no prior sailing knowledge is required. All you need is a sense of adventure and a love for the magic of French Polynesia.
Think of a flotilla as the ultimate “social safety net” for the high seas. It is a group of yachts sailing the same stunning route in tandem—each boat is independently skippered or captained by you, but you’re never truly alone.
You get the freedom of commanding your own vessel, paired with the peace of mind that comes from having a lead boat and a professional flotilla leader just a radio call away.
The Flotilla Advantage:
In short: It’s adventure with a safety net and a community of like-minded explorers.
Spots are limited, and the French Polynesia magic tends to sell out fast. Questions? We’re happy to help you plan the perfect Tahiti sailing escape.
This isn’t just a sailing trip—it’s an immersion into the heart of Tahiti and her sister islands, where warm trade winds, crystal lagoons, and reef-protected passages create days that feel effortless and timeless. You’ll sail through places most people only dream of, drifting over coral gardens, anchoring in turquoise sanctuaries, and ending each day beneath stars that feel impossibly close.
The Tahiti Sailing Flotilla is about slowing down, sailing well, and experiencing French Polynesia the way it was meant to be experienced—by sea, in good company, with everything taken care of. Join us by the cabin or charter your own yacht, and let the rhythm of the islands carry you somewhere unforgettable.
