Sporades Greece Sailing Flotilla

“The Mamma Mia Tour”

Sailing through the Sporades is like stepping into a scene from a movie – because it is. This is where Mamma Mia was filmed, but beyond the Hollywood sparkle lies a Greece still rich in tradition, hidden coves, and pine-covered hills. You’ll dance barefoot in seaside villages, feast on grilled octopus and village wine, and swim in turquoise waters only reachable by boat.

This isn’t a cruise. It’s your floating home for the week, led by a local Greek flotilla leader and NauticEd instructor who knows every secret anchorage and ‘taverna’ worth visiting.

With over 20 years of sailing experience, Nick Koufidis brings a calm, confident presence to every trip. He first got into sailing through vacations and racing—and what started as a hobby quickly became a lifelong calling. For the past 15 years, Nick has worked as a professional skipper and fleet operator, gaining deep expertise in the Greek islands and earning top-level qualifications as a NauticEd SLC Instructor/Assessor and RYA Yachtmaster Cruising Instructor.

A regular sailor in both the Sporades and Ionian Islands, Nick knows every tucked-away cove and quiet harbor worth visiting. “The sense of freedom sailing offers is what keeps me coming back,” he says.

One of his favorite memories? “Sailing through the Sporades archipelago. Each island is like a jewel with its own story. Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonnisos, Skyros—they’re unspoiled and full of secrets waiting for the curious sailor.”

Fun Fact

Nick always brings his camera—and keeps an eye out for dolphins. “I love capturing those moments when they swim alongside the boat,” he says. “It never gets old.”

Favorite Local Gem

When asked to choose a favorite destination in the Sporades, Nick doesn’t hesitate: “The old town of Skopelos. Its narrow alleys feel like stepping back in time—you feel the soul of Greece there.”
